Pam Seeker`s prayer for unity on the newsgroup

Posted by Pam "Seeker" on 2000-01-11

At our church on Sunday, we talked about and celebrated Christian
Unity. It's probably especially important for us as we are about to
enter a period of interregnum (sp?) and looking for a new vicar.

This got me thinking that I wanted to offer up this prayer to the NG.
This post is, obviously, a prayer but I do not personally consider it a
prayer-request post. Feel free to address any of the ideas, add to the
prayer, say "Amen" or disagree completely. This is also partly a
response to quite a few threads and is the most positive response I can
think to give to them.

++++++++++++++

One God, Holy Trinity, you created us and "life, the universe and
everything."
We give you praise and bring before you this NG.

Help us to remember that, as Christians, we stand united in the gospel.
Help us to remember that, at the end of the day, the good news of your
love and Christ's redemption unites us all in love for you.
Help us to remember that none of us knows the whole truth and that in
diversity there can also be strength and unity.

Where I have created division by striving to put my ideas first,
forgive me.
Whare I have failed to be a conduit of the Holy Spirit, forgive me.

Send down your Holy Spirit on this NG, for you are the only one who can
create unity out of difference.
Use this NG for your work in the future as you have so clearly done in
the past.

In Christ's name,
Amen
